Promenade des Anglais
The Promenade des Anglais is a real attraction not only for the beloved city of Nice, but also for the whole of France. This area has sunk into the soul of many vacationers. Amazing walks along the coast, remain in the memory for a lifetime.
Previously, the Promenade des Anglais was unremarkable. It was just an ordinary empty beach, and people's houses were being built far from the sea line. In the 18th century, this territory was noticed by the British, who actively began to settle it, hiding from the evil winters in Albion. But not only wealthy Englishmen came to this area, but also poor people. In another harsh winter, funds were organized here, which made it possible to employ the unemployed. It was at that time that the famous Promenade des Anglais began to be built. The local authorities liked this embankment in Nice so much that they immediately organized mass works aimed at transforming this area into the "pearl of the city". In 1844, the embankment got its name, which sounds like the Promenade des Anglais.
Nowadays, the English Embankment accommodates wonderful buildings that were built here in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. There are also luxurious restaurants, cozy cafes, various shops, exhibition halls, and hotels. The most famous luxury hotel on the coast is the Negresco Hotel, which is usually robbed by the richest and most famous guests.
The Museum of Fine Arts, the Ollieres Castle, which was built for Prince Lobanov-Rostovsky, and the Chateau de la Tour are also located on the embankment.
Here, by the sea, the desires of even the richest and most fastidious are fulfilled. The azure sea with its white sands on the shores, magnificent palm trees, luxurious villas, and expensive boutiques simply lure you to these parts. Under blue umbrellas by the sea, they usually sit in full dress, with a solemn look, admiring the blue waves of the bay. Ladies with their gentlemen are strolling around arm in arm, or cyclists are passing by.
The English embankment is always happy to welcome guests. Many festivals, carnivals and exhibitions usually take place here.
