Kromerizh Castle

Kromerizh Castle was built in 1260 in the middle of the center of the Maraviy district in the Czech Republic, where the Morava River flows. Here, near the Khrzhiby Mountain itself, a whole complex of castle structures has been erected that represent a wonderful Baroque style.

Kromerizh Castle

The area where the castle appeared previously belonged to the Great Moravia, which is known since the 9th century. Following the decree of the ruler, who was Przemysl Otkar II, the local settlement was transformed into a city at the crossroads of the main streets of which Kromeriz Castle towered.

After some time, the palace was devastated, looted and partially destroyed, as a result of numerous protracted soldiers, including the large Thirty Years.

Kromerizh Castle

Kromeriz Castle was repeatedly tried to rebuild, during which he changed his appearance from the Gothic style to the Renaissance style. But in the end I acquired a magnificent baroque style.

Particular attention is drawn to the interior design of the castle. You just can’t look away from luxurious furniture, crystal chandelier, various frescoes. A picture immediately emerges in my head in what luxury the former owners lived here, who were the feudal lords, as well as bishops and even knights.

The castle also stores magnificent samples of painting. This gallery has found a place on the second floor and occupies ten whole halls of the structure. The gallery is very significant for the whole country and ranks second in importance. Here are canvases that are of world fame, among them the works of Titian, Kranakha and many others. The castle also presents other valuable exhibits that are located in a music and book exhibition. Among them are autographs of the great Mozart and Gaidan, as well as various ancient books and manuscripts.

The chic Throne Hall and the hall, which will be especially interested in hunting lovers, the Hunting, also attract special attention. You can not ignore the Imperial Room, where at one time the question of the future of Europe was decided.

The green complex is simply fascinating, which is the environment of Kromerzhizh Castle. It is as much as 64 hectares and represents various well-groomed lawns, paved paths, fountains and, of course, flower beds. Also, the eyes of the guests of the castle will certainly be pleased with various mazes, sculptures, greenhouses, the Chinese pavilion and flower garden.

Kromeriz Castle, along with its gallery and magnificent gardens, is under the protection of UNESCO.

You can get to this Czech landmark in three hours from Prague using a train or bus, but with a transfer.
