London Eye

A huge Ferris wheel was built on the territory of the British capital, which is the largest in all of Europe. This seemingly light openwork design is called the Eye of London or the Millennium Wheel. The famous London Ferris Wheel is built on the banks of the Thames and measures 135 m in height.

The Ferris wheel accommodates 32 transparent capsules, each of which can accommodate no more than 25 people at a time. The passenger seats are completely enclosed, which allows tourists not only to sit, but also to walk around the cabin. The speed of the wheel is not high and is 0.9 km/hour or 26 cm/sec. In order for the wheel to make one complete revolution, it takes about 45 minutes. time. Usually, the speed of the wheel allows passengers to board and disembark without stopping moving, but still, if necessary, it stops.

It turned out to be a difficult task to build such a huge structure. Whole fragments of the finished product were transported along the river adjacent to it. The London Eye was mounted horizontally, and only then, with the help of special equipment, it was installed. Incredible popularity immediately overtook this huge Ferris wheel. This attraction is, although paid, but the most visited in London. There is a constant queue at its entrance, because in all of Europe it is the only place where you can admire the incredibly beautiful panorama of the city. The total number of visitors per year reaches 3.5 million people.

The London Ferris Wheel has been repeatedly compared to the Eiffel Tower in Paris. After all, this huge structure, like the Paris tower, is a kind of symbol of the country, which provides an incredible opportunity to enjoy a bird's-eye view of the city. The Millennium Wheel has a particularly beautiful view at dusk, when countless lights are lit on it.
