Devils Tower

The Devil's Tower is a very mysterious object that is richly endowed with legends, as well as various stories of its origin. This stone mountain was formed close, 200 million years ago in the United States in the state of Wyoming. This unique tower has an impressive view and is close to 390 meters high, which is 2.5 times the size of the Pyramid of Cheops. The origin of the tower is often attributed to the devil's hands, which is why its name is associated.

Devils Tower

The Devil's Tower is the first American stone monument that is located in the middle of the wilderness on a flat area. The mountain itself has a regular shape in the form of a tower with a cropped top. The Bell Fourche River flows nearby this natural landmark. The territory of the state itself is simply huge with a small number of people, which made it possible to preserve nature in an almost pristine form.

The Devil's Tower has always attracted people to it, but its appearance was often misleading. That is why such an unusual natural landmark has many legends that tell us about its birth. The most famous is the legend of the seven beauties, who, frightened by a monstrous bear, climbed the tower, hoping to escape. But the evil beast did not want to let them go and scratched the stone mountain with its claws to get them anyway. Then the girls started asking the tower to grow up and become inaccessible to the bear. And a miracle happened, the rock really began to grow, and reached the height that we are seeing now. But the stubborn bear did not want to let go of the beauties and stubbornly continued to claw the stone tower until the girls turned into a constellation and flew away. That's how the Devil's Tower got a height of 390 meters, and its surface has a scratched appearance.

This stone mountain has kept the locals in fear for a very long time. Anyone who got into her circle tried to get out of here as quickly as possible. The peak itself, as sources say, repeatedly glowed in the dark. The people who lived nearby called this mountain the Tower of the Bad Gods. The name, which is still presented today, was given by Colonel Richard Dodge back in 1875.

Now this tower has been studied inside and out, but still remains impregnable. During all this time, it was conquered by two people, one of whom is a local climber, and the other is a parachutist, who successfully landed on a stone platform, but with difficulty, a week later, got out of there.

Scientists explain the appearance of this unusual tower by the outpouring of volcanic rock. The balsam, which is divided into tubular pillars, creates such a unique look.

After a detailed study of this landmark, films began to be shot here, its image appeared in magazines, paintings and postage stamps. Even President Roosevelt himself became interested in the view of the Devil's Tower, who declared it a natural national monument of America in 1906.

Now the Devil's Tower is visited by many tourists. The mystery and long-standing legends associated with this place, as well as the unusual regular shapes of the natural landmark, attract them here.
