Antelope Valley
California Gold Poppy – is a plant that is very famous not only in California but also in the USA. In this country there is a valley that is simply dyed with poppy flowers. This area is known as the Antelope Valley, and is protected by the state.
This desert territory, approximately 700 hectares in size, is located at an altitude of 800 meters above sea level and belongs to Mojave. The total length of all roads in the reserve is about 11 km. Therefore, everyone can enjoy walking between beautiful plantations of orange-golden California poppies without having time to get tired. This area is known as the Antelope Valley for a reason, because it was inhabited by these animals in the past.
In 1903, this beautiful fiery flower was endowed with the title – state flower. But beautiful trepidation plants were seen and isolated among others, back in the 1700s. The Spaniards, having noticed these endless golden fields that simply ran away from high hills, were fascinated by such natural beauty. They gave a name to this flower, which sounded like Copa de Ora, which is translated into our language, means the Golden Bowl. But this is not the only name that the poppies called. You could also hear Amarola or Dromidera that translates as sleepy, and this is not easy, because it is worth blowing the wind, or the sun hiding behind the cloud, the bowls of flowers immediately close.
In order to preserve the golden poppy, a reserve was organized in the United States called the Antelope Valley ( The Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve ). In the park area, of course, it is forbidden to tear flowers. In this valley, taking a beautiful photograph of a flower is a little inconvenience due to the local gusts of the wind. At the same time, flowers are constantly in motion, wavy raids, they constantly roll somewhere. If the valley is considered well, then among the poppy lights, you can also see other field flowers, including blue lupine and lilac clover.
The Antelope Valley is always glad to see guests on its territory, but, intensive flowering mainly occurs from February to May. Depending on weather conditions, the flowering time, annually, changes in one or the other side.
Tourists are given the opportunity to have a good time in the fresh air, wandering between chic red flowers, breathing in the unique aroma of flowers. It is strictly forbidden to make bouquets, or to tear down flowers, because this is a reserved territory, and the California poppy – is a state symbol. But besides chic flora, here you can meet local field residents, which are lizards, gophers, lynx, as well as coyote.
