Hobbiton
Hobbiton is a village located near the town of Matamata in New Zealand. This is where many fans of the famous movie "The Lord of the Rings" go, who want to appreciate with their own eyes all the delights of the green and colorful area where the filming of the famous film took place. Hobbiton is a landmark that was created by human hands, but not by computer graphics, as it seems at first glance, when watching a movie.
New Zealand has long been famous for its natural resources, which are not found in the whole world. This is exactly what attracts the director of the film, who has gained worldwide fame.
It was here, on the island of Matamata, that the filmmaker looked for a place that would be ideal for the embodiment of his idea. After that, the local farm was bought from the brothers, who were engaged in sheep farming, and also lived here.
The construction of the village of Hobbiton turned out to be difficult. An army of soldiers had to be recruited to create mink houses here. A special ground-breaking technology is also involved, especially for which about one and a half kilometers of road were laid. 37 dug holes, with the help of human hands, as well as special material, eventually turn into small houses. The surrounding area was also improved, where a garden was planted and a decorative barberry fence was built.
Work on the creation of Hobbiton dragged on for ten months. All this time, more than four hundred workers worked tirelessly. As soon as the film crew finished all the work and returned to its original location, part of the scenery, as well as the garden, were destroyed.
As soon as the film was released, many tourists wanted to see the area, which the owners of the farm did not like very much. Moviegoers came more and more often, which served as the idea to open a special route for tourists.
When the second wave of "Hobbit" filming took place, everything was still flourishing here. The beautiful houses with all the decorations remained in place so that visitors could fully immerse themselves in the fabulous atmosphere.
To date, a tourist route has been officially opened here. The beautiful gardens, as well as the houses and all kinds of decorations are looked after by farm workers. At least 300 tourists rush here every day. A bus service is provided to the charming village of Hobbiton. After a wonderful walk through the museum grounds, you can have lunch at a local cafe that has opened by the road with hobbit houses.
An additional and integral attraction are the local sheep, which roam the area carefree. If desired, they can also be fed with special food or simply observe their daily life.
But if you haven't watched The Lord of the Rings movie, don't worry, you'll enjoy this tour too.
