This small territory was presented back in 1695 to the gift of Yanagisawa Yoshiyas from the ruler Tokugawa Tsunaos, in confidence in his adviser. Yoshiyasu was a fan of Wak poetry, and she inspired him to create, on a donated plot of land, a delightful garden. He absorbed the works of « Manyosyu » and « Kokkinsu », which were highlighted in this place with special inscriptions on stone columns, which were originally 88 pieces. To date, they can only be counted 32.

Yoshiyasu completely surrendered to the ennobling of the Rikugien garden and the management did not trust anyone. For as long as 8 years, work was underway here, which ended only by 1702.
