Kenroku-en Garden
The Kenroku-en Garden is one of the parks in the city of Kanazawa in Japan. Translated from Japanese, the name sounds like a "Garden of Six Dignity". The park harmoniously combines lakes, streams, waterfalls, bridges, trees, for which the park became popular among tourists and residents of the city.
The history of Canroku-en Park begins back in 1676, when Lord Maeda Tsunamori moved his administration to the fortress and decided to equip the adjacent land. But in 1759, the garden was destroyed by a fire, its restoration began only in 1774. A pavilion for tea ceremonies and an Emerald Waterfall were added to the old garden. Years passed, the lords replaced each other and each added something of his own: streams, ponds. In 1874, the park was opened for all visitors.
Canroku-en is one of the three most famous parks in Japan: Kairaku-en and Koraku-en. The park is based on 6 elements: spaciousness, privacy, convention, panorama, old man, water. To that end, the garden was planned so that all elements should be pairwise grouped. This is the secret of the classical park. Canroquen Park embodied the best traditions of Japanese gardening. The greatest achievements of gardeners include: embankments, water bodies, streams, looping like snakes, buildings.
In the northern part of Canroku-en Park, 13 Lord of the Maeda dynasty in 1863 built a two-story Seisoncaku house for his mother. Today there is a museum that presents the things of the Maeda dynasty: manuscripts, engravings, old kimonos. Nearby is a well known throughout the city. There is a legend that in ancient times the peasant of Togoro washed potatoes here and noticed golden sand. Hence the name of the city of Kanazawa, which translates as the "Golden Swamp". Near the entrance to the park you can see the ruins of the castle, which burned down in 1759. Only the gate and the arsenal building remained from it. Today, the castle belongs to the University of Kanazawa.

In the winter season - lush snow robes, in the spring the beauty of the Canroku-en garden shows a sakura and plum, drowning in greenery in the summer, azalea bloom, golden maples and dzelks are beautiful in the fall. Stone lanterns, bridges, houses for tea ceremonies, and Kotoji lanterns fit perfectly into the landscape.
