Villa d’Este
Villa d’Este – is a great example of the Renaissance architecture. It was erected in Tivoli from 1550 to 1573. The wonderful Italian city of Tivoli is located on a picturesque hill, which is covered with vineyards, olive trees and other species of chic plants.
The history of the villa d’Este dates back to the spring of 1550, when the ruler, Cardinal Ferrara Ippolita II d’Este, was appointed to the small town. Arriving in Tivoli, the cardinal immediately wanted to ennoble his residence with a wonderful flowering garden.
Villa d’Este was designed following the example of Adrian’s villa, the ruins of which was carefully studied by the architect of the ruler. Various valuable statues were found in the study of the Adrian villa, became an integral decor of the gardens and the residence of d’Este. That is how this beautiful palace turned into a garden museum step by step. For 22 years there was continuous work around the government residence.
