Hungarian Parliament Building
The Hungarian Parliament Building is located in the capital of the country – Budapest, on the banks of the Danube River. The style of this building resembles the Westminster Palace. This building is the most magnificent, representative and large in all of Hungary.
The planning of this grandiose building began immediately after the unification of Buda and Pesta, when 1873 was going on. The right to engage in the design of the Hungarian Parliament was granted to Imre Steindl, who was the winner among all the works provided by talented people.
The territory where the Hungarian Parliament was supposed to rise was determined in advance, between the two famous bridges of Budapest, on the banks of the Danube River. The construction took almost ten years, starting in 1885 and ending in 1904.
During the competition for the best idea of the parliament building, work was also provided, thanks to which the Ethnographic Museum, as well as the Ministry of Agriculture, are located next to this famous building.
Of course, the Weger Parliament deserves respect and additional views of passers-by. This is the most huge structure of the whole country, which seats 691 rooms, 30 stairs and 10 magnificent cozy courtyards.
The Hungarian parliament was in a hurry to finish by 1896, since at that time it was planned to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of the Hungarian homeland. But, it is a pity, the building was not completed, but only managed to make the main huge arch, which is 27 meters high and 20 meters in diameter. On two sides of it are the halls where the government met, because in previous times the local parliament was composed of two chambers, from where the main decrees and decisions for the country were issued. Nowadays, various conferences are usually held in the second hall.
The decoration of the Hungarian Parliament is sculptures that are erected in honor of the rulers of this country, as well as Transylvania. As for the decorative decoration of the interior, the mosaic, various stained glass windows, as well as gilding elements are generously used here. During the time of socialism, the spire of the parliament was ennobled by a red star, following the example of the famous Moscow Kremlin.
In the most important hall of the parliament, decorated with sculptures by the rulers of the country, starting in 2000, the crown, as well as other government supplies of St. Stephen, is preserved.
Across the entire territory of the Hungarian Parliament, excursions are conducted with pleasure, experienced guides who, in addition, lead an exciting story about this building, its inhabitants and guests, in different languages, including Russian.
