City Fortress Kowloon
The Kowloon Fortress City – is a former huge dirty communal apartment in Koulun that belonged to Hong Kong in China. Given that the city is not big, there was a time when there were about 50 thousand people in it.
A marvelous settlement has a rather rich history, which began a thousand years ago, when a fortification was erected here to protect saltworks from pirates. Later there was a fort.
In 1898, this territory was ruled by two states, as it was leased to the UK. During the occupation by the Japanese military of this area, it was inhabited by Chinese refugees, which were to a large extent either thieves or drug addicts. In 1950, the so-called Chinese triads ruled this territory. At this time, prostitution, casinos, drug trafficking and even drug laboratories flourished here. By 1970, the mafia managed to cover up, which entailed the rise of the working class of the population. At that time, there were about 10,000 people in the town of Kowloon. After 10 years, the population of Kouluna has tripled. New high-rise buildings are actively being built here, and the old ones are being rebuilt and rebuilt. Under the buildings were all the streets of the city, because they could not have more than 14 floors at home, since the airport was nearby. The local streets, which turned into corridors, illuminated the bulbs around the clock, but electricity was directly from the city network very often stolen to other needs. It was dirty everywhere, and garbage was lying under my feet.
At least 500 factories worked in this terrifying place, where they produced clothes, shoes, and food. Despite the stench and dirt of the Crown Fortress City, all of Hong Kong was pleased to eat fish croquettes that were prepared by local culinary specialists. Good dentists also worked here, which were addressed by people from the richest areas of Hong Kong.
In 1994, the authorities decided to put things in order here, spending more than one billion dollars, they resettled people, demolished the city-fortress of Kowloon, and also removed the territory.
Nowadays, there is no trace of the terrifying city of Kowloon. Here is a park where Hong Kong residents walk in the fresh air.
