Jasper National Park
Jasper National Park is located in Alberta, Canada, 320 km west of Edmonton and 290 km northwest of Calgary. It was founded in 1907. The area is more than 10,800 km2. The National Park occupies an area on the eastern slopes of the Cordillera, while it combines the diverse landscapes of the highlands of the Main and Advanced Ranges, as well as the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.
No one will be left indifferent: shimmering glaciers, sparkling transparent lakes, noisy waterfalls, deep canyons, majestic mountains with snow-capped peaks and evergreen forests. The Athabasca Glacier, one of the oldest glaciers on Earth, is located in the National Park. Its age exceeds 10,000 years, and its area is more than 200 km2. The park is the largest nature reserve in the Rocky Mountains and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Together with the other three Rocky Mountain National Parks – Yoho, Banff, and Kootenay – Jasper forms a single protected complex.
Of the plants in Jasper National Park, pines, giant fir, Engelmann spruce, larch and juniper are often found, which in British Columbia reaches the size of a tree. You can also see the Douglas fir here. This unique plant detects the roll by itself and slightly builds up the wood on one side of the tree, balancing the balance. Therefore, it is rare to find crooked, crooked trees among this breed.
There are 69 species of mammals in the Canadian Rockies. Moose, deer, mountain goats, bighorn, and American wolf can be found everywhere in Jasper Park. It is also home to large populations of wapiti deer, grizzly bears, American marten, Canadian lynx, wolverines, beavers, arboreal porcupines, muskrats, red squirrels and great flying squirrels. All kinds of rodents are found in large numbers here: ground squirrels, badgers, and the baggy rat. The park is home to about 200 species of birds.
Jasper National Park is one of the most visited nature conservation sites in Canada and you can travel here all year round. For travelers, there is a well-developed infrastructure: comfortable hotels surrounded by amazing nature, lakes with crystal clear water, hot springs, ski slopes Marmot Basin, picturesque golf courses, great opportunities for winter and summer sports, about 1,200 km of hiking and horseback riding routes and, of course, rich flora and fauna, as well as numerous interesting sights created by nature itself. Jasper National Park provides wonderful conditions for an unforgettable vacation and exploring the fabulous world of the North American Rocky Mountains.
