Cal Orcko

In one of the poorest countries in the world, Bolivia, near the town of Sucre, there is the Cal Orco rock, which the whole world has already learned about, although it was previously inconspicuous. In the same place there is a small cement factory, along which there is a huge wall, the height of a 30-storey building, with a length of 1.2 km.

This place began to gain popularity in 1994, when Klaus Schutt went for a walk to the factory. He was just shocked by the discovered painting. This unusual structure aroused special interest in Klaus Schutt, because, firstly, it was surprised by its large size, and secondly, dinosaur footprints were imprinted here. In 1998, a whole group of scientific researchers, led by paleontologist Christian Meyer from Switzerland, arrived in Bolivia to study the stone wall.

Scientists have found out that the footprints on Kal-Orco really belong to these prehistoric animals, and they counted at least 5,000 of them. Many different examinations have been carried out at this place, with the help of which it was concluded that 294 dinosaurs left footprints, about 68 million years ago. It was then that the area was filled with fresh water, for which these animals came. After some time, the local area turned into a mountain range, as a result of which tectonic plates moved, with the help of which the former bottom of the lake was raised to the surface.

Since 2006, many tourists have come to see the Dinosaur Wall in Bolivia. The local authorities have organized a dinosaur museum here, where these ancient animals are represented in full growth. Travelers are happy to look at the models of the animals themselves, and then go to taste the unique find that the dinosaurs themselves left us as a gift. The museum in Cal Orco is of course paid, but what you see is undoubtedly worth it.
