This complex of buildings, which was called Villa Bao Dai, was built back in 1923, the architect of this building was the then-famous scientist A. Krem. He, together with his gardener, began to equip these places, building small houses here, which later underwent significant expansions. According to the author's idea, this place was to become an example of a combination of two seemingly opposite styles, European - in the face of French and Oriental styles.
The villas themselves occupy several hills in the very center of Nha Trang, and, remarkably, they were used by the emperor as his summer imperial residence. The emperor himself visited his residence several times - several times he did this together with his numerous concubines and children, here he was engaged in gardening, and also liked to walk in the beautiful park areas spread over the territory of Bao Dai's Villas.
Later, these villas became the permanent residence of the highest officials of South Vietnam, who spent time here with their families, as well as with Western guests from Europe. It should also be said about the name of these villas - they were named after the very last emperor of the Vietnamese Empire. During the life of the emperor, each of the villas had its own unique name, they were named after popular plants and flowers, but after his death, the villas were called Bao Dai.
Today, Bao Dai Villas is a hotel where you can stay for a short time and have a good time, as well as a museum that you can visit and see the interior, it should be said that the interior of the villas does not stand out much, but everything is here furnished in the brightest traditions of Vietnam - a minimum of furniture and a maximum of usable space. Visitors can try on imperial robes and take pictures against the backdrop of the emperor's personal study, where some items have been preserved - a table, chairs and old books. For nature lovers, there is a beautiful park where a lot of trees and various plants grow.
If you are a fan of oriental history and architecture, you should definitely visit the Bao Dai Villas, which still retain their unique old features, as well as the spirit of old Vietnam.
