Sedlec Ossuary

For more than a hundred years, there has been a Coast Guard in Sedlec, the components of which are the remains of 40 thousand people. This building is to be a kind of reminder that human life is only a moment in the life of the universe. This place, of course, belongs to the most popular unusual and mystical attractions of the Czech Republic.

The church in Sedlec, located near the city of Kutna Gora, has gained great popularity around the world. And this is not without reason, because the imagination of mankind is simply struck by these amazing decorations in the form of crosses, pyramids, emblems that are built from the bones of our ancestors.

The constituent parts of the temple are two chapels that are built on top of each other. In the lower - gloomy products are hidden that can tickle the nerves, because they were made from human remains.

In 1278, the abbot went to the Holy Land and took with him a little land that he scattered in the monastery cemetery. That is how this area turned into the Holy Field and became interested as the main burial place. Epidemics, wars have become the main cause of the burial of more than 40 thousand bodies in this territory.

The architect of such an unusual construction is the talented Jan Blazhej Santini Eichel, who gave her a baroque style. But the master Frantishek Rint was most noted here, thanks to which these unusual decoration of one of the chapels exist. It is simply amazing, but all the details that adorn the local interior are created with bones and skulls belonging to people. The bones were pre-disinfection and bleached using calcium chloride. They are diligently laid out in the form of various figures, the likeness of which does not exist throughout Europe.

The church storage in Sedlec keeps amazing things by visiting its walls, be sure that such unusual paintings will sit in your memory for a long time. Here, at the show, a large chandelier, various cups, as well as a cross made all the same with the same bones are presented. Especially stands out among all bone expositions, Turks, to whom the raven mercilessly pecks the eye.
