Cardiff Castle

Cardiff Castle is located in the county of Glamorganshire in the center of the city of Cardiff, being the most beautiful decoration of the entire British kingdom. The history of this castle began more than two thousand years ago, when Roman soldiers built the first fortifications. Two centuries later, a new fortress was built with stone walls that defended the empire from enemies. The castle itself was built on the site of the ruins of the fortress in 1091. It was the residence of Lord Robert Fitzhamon.

Throughout the existence of Cardiff Castle, it has changed hands, changing owners. The Bute family played a big role for the castle. The lord received it as a dowry of his young wife. Since 1766, it has been the property of Lord Bute and his family.

During the second Lord's lifetime, the castle became the largest exporter of coal, and the surrounding area became the largest coal port.

The third descendant of Bute wished to give the castle a medieval look. In 1860, the Gothic-style living quarters were given a luxurious look with exquisite interiors. As a result, the luxury of the castle is known all over the world. In an effort to preserve the original appearance of Cardiff, a number of other structures and halls were completed. The interior was decorated with frescoes, stained glass, gilding and marble. Each room has its own unique style, including Italian and Arabic styles. Religious subjects and astrological symbols are depicted everywhere. Several apartments are reserved for meetings and celebrations here. The surrounding area of the castle is divided into a beautiful garden in which Southern European plants grow. A beautiful view of the surrounding area of the castle can be viewed from the terrace located on the roof of the castle.

Since 1947, the castle has been transferred by the next heir to the ownership of the city of Cardiff. At this hour, a museum is open on the territory of the castle, guided tours are conducted. Jousting tournaments, concerts and festivals are also held here.

Cardiff Castle, an architectural structure in the Neo–Gothic style, is the pride and main attraction of the local residents of Cardiff.
