Giethoorn Village

The village of Giethoorn is a small village in the Netherlands, but it is very popular among tourists, as it simply enchants with its beauty. The location of the village is the water channels, with a total length of 7.5 km. 2,620 people live here, who consider clean air and natural silence to be the main luxury of this town.

The founding year is considered to be 1230, when this territory was settled by refugees from the southern part of the Netherlands. The locals extracted peat from the ground, which formed the appearance of the village as it is represented today. A lot of individual channels that were dug around the houses eventually filled with water.

This area has gained popularity thanks to director Bert Hanstra, who shot the famous comedy "Fanfare" here, which was enjoyed by numerous moviegoers. Now many tourists admire Giethorn and they call it the Dutch Venice or the Venice of the North. This comparison is not without reason, since each house in the village is surrounded by water and connected by a wooden bridge, of which there are about 50, to the neighboring building.

Githorn is an ecologically clean area, because the main transport that is located here are bicycles, as well as boats and boats with electric motors that silently cruise along artificial channels, almost without disturbing the natural silence. Each house has its own boat parked, which serves both for fishing and as a means of transportation. The buildings in the village are just a sight to behold. Each house is built of brownish brick and has a thatched roof. The circumference of the house is represented by green lawns, as well as decorative flower beds, a variety of well-groomed flowers.

The atmosphere of this village of Githorn is saturated with tranquility and comfort, and the local air is filled with purity.
