Wimanmek
Vimanmek Palace – is a huge structure that was erected without any nails. The palace is recognized as the largest, of its kind, on the entire planet. The material for the construction of the palace was a pink yew. Wimanmek originally towered on the island of Sichang, but in 1901 the king wished to see him in Dusit Park in Bangkok. It is here that the palace is located in our time.
Transferring a huge building to three floors is not an easy task, but still possible, since the construction was used without nail technology. Design elements are held by wood veneer.
Previously, the palace served as the king’s apartment, but when in 1935 the imperial family began to live in a new palace, Wimanmek was deserted. In 1982, a major overhaul was carried out in the castle building, after which a museum began to operate here, the exhibition halls of which were filled with various household training facilities of the royal relatives.
The extraordinary nature of Wimanmek is that such structures from the tree are not at all characteristic of Thailand. Royal Palace with a pink vise – a unique creation. This building, behind its style and depleted decoration, has a resemblance to European buildings, and only the pyramidal roofs with acutely flares do not forget about the location of the palace.
Vimanmek Palace accommodates eighty rooms, among which are halls for the public, as well as a large chance hall. Large area is occupied by living quarters. Thirty rooms of the castle are open for tourists to visit. There are many exhibits, including luxurious royal furniture, precious services, as well as ordinary dishes used by members of the royal family. Here you can also consider copies of weapons and hunting trophies.
Visitors are interested in the light bulb, which is the very first in Thailand, the heavy royal bath with cast iron, which was heated by a special boiler. On the third floor, royal apartments are presented in the eyes of tourists, which look like when the owners live here. You can climb into this room with the very first elevator in the country, which is also listed as a museum exhibit.
The surroundings of the Vimanmek Palace are numerous arbors, benches, a pool in the midst of lush greenery. The name of the castle in translation sounds like « cloud castle ». Each corner of this magnificent place that tourists loved so much is saturated with beauty and a fabulous atmosphere.
