Park Sofiero

Sofiero Park is located in the southwestern side of Sweden on the Baltic Sea coast, 5 km from the city of Helsinborg. Its territory is about 15 hectares.

Park Sofiero

Sofiero Castle was built in 1864 and named Sofiero in honor of King Oscar's wife Sofia. When Gustaf's grandson Adolf got married, the king gave him a castle. And since 1905, Sofieru Castle became the property of King Gustav VI Adolf and Princess Margareta.

The design landscape of the park was created for their initiatives. The couple spent a lot of time in the park, and in a short time an English Garden, a pleasure garden, was created. Grilles were installed to protect plants from the wind, which were lined with clematis and honeysuckle. The king himself planted many varieties of rhododendrons. The king wrote down all the information about the plants himself.
