Alupkin Park

Alupkinsky Park is a large park with an area of about 40 hectares in the resort town of Alupka. The park began to be laid out in 1820, today it is a monument of landscape art and forms a single composition with the Vorontsov Palace. The park is also called Vorontsovsky.

Alupkin Park

The terrain of the park is very complex, so there are several zones in the park: upper, lower and central. The park began to be built several years before the palace, and since 1824, the construction of the park was led by a horticulturist from Germany, Karl Kebach. In Alupka Park, you can see over two hundred acclimatized trees and shrubs from all over the world: the Mediterranean, Asia, South and North America. Italian pines, oriental plane trees, laurels, magnolias, cork oaks, Chilean araucaria, palm trees, and olive trees stand out among them.

Century-old plane trees, cypresses, laurels, and oleanders grow in the lower part of the park. A "Tea house" was built near the shore of the sea, strewn with large boulders. In Vorontsov's time, there were pleasure boats near the shore. You can also relax in Alupka Park by the numerous fountains. Since the time of the Muslim Crimea, the construction of a fountain was considered a godly deed, and it was placed wherever possible. Not far from the palace there is a fountain "Glass Jet" built back in 1839, it represents a stele with a wide opening. At the main gate you can see the "Trilby Fountain", which depicts a bas-relief of a dog with an otter. Otter hunting used to be popular in England, during which specially trained dogs searched for otters in rivers and destroyed them. In front of the entrance to the Vorontsov Palace, you can see a fountain built in 1829.

Alupkin Park

Vorontsovsky Park has many fountains, water cascades and ponds. There are 3 cascading ponds in the park: Verkhny, Mirrorny and Lebyazhy. The latter is so named because swans really live there, which are fed all year round, and they are not going to fly anywhere. In the ponds you can see fish, turtles, and around them grow ash trees, maples, dogwoods. Due to its diverse landscapes and abundance of heights, Alupka Park has gathered vegetation from all over the Crimea, and you can even see plants that are found only in the wild and cannot be cultivated.
