Memento Park

Memento Park in Budapest was created as a historical center, reminding the residents of the city and its guests of the communist system that ruled the country. Hungary is now a democratic state, although the traces of the past do not let us forget about ourselves.

Memento Park

Nowadays, Memento Park is an excellent historical museum, where architectural creations are displayed in the fresh air among the wonderful nature of the square. The atmosphere of Memento Park is completely imbued with the spirit of the communist era.

The famous architect Akos Eleeda was engaged in the development of projects for this landmark in Hungary. The park was opened to the public in 1993, when the next wave of withdrawal of Soviet military equipment from the country was taking place.

Memento Park

Walking along the paths of Memento Park in Budapest, you can see numerous historical monumental structures, among which there are, of course, statues of leaders: V. Lenin, K. Marx, F.Engels. There are also figures of many other Hungarian leaders and famous people of that time.

Forty monuments have been installed in Memento Park, which were sent to this territory in 1989, when the fall of Soviet power was observed in the state. Among the many established cultural monuments, the first places rightfully belong to the wonderful creations called "Stalin's Boots", the Monument to the Republic, the Monument to the Martyrs, as well as the Memorial of the Labor Movement. The spirit of communism in the park is very well raised by such compositions as a Soviet telephone booth, an old record player, as well as a Trabant car.

A cinema was also opened here in 2007 for the guests of Memento Park. There is an exhibition hall in this area, where various events related to photo exhibitions are constantly held. Here you can see famous documentaries that tell the story of the communist era, as well as its leaders.

In the shops located on the territory of the park, you can buy something in memory of the communist regime. There is a variety of souvenirs, including: a Soviet passport, Lenin badges, posters with various slogans of that time.

Memento Park, which belongs to Bucharest, is not located in an urban area. You can get to it by hiring a taxi or using public transport services. You will need to pay for admission to the park, but there are discounts for children and pensioners.
