Ras Muhammad National Park

Ras Mohammed is one of the first Egyptian national parks located in the Red Sea. Its location is on the southern side of the Sinai Peninsula, which is less than 30 km from Sharm El Sheikh. The purpose of creating the national park in 1989 was to preserve its outstanding riches – coral reefs, which Jacques–Yves-Cousteau was proud of, filming a series of programs about it. The government has been expanding the park area for several years, trying to protect more and more of its territory, as these places are very popular among foreigners.

The diversity of the natural and animal world of Ras Mohammed simply delights visitors. But the main wealth and pride of this park are 150 species of coral plants. They have different shapes, sizes, and unusual beauty. The coral reefs that have accumulated in this area serve many residents of the Red Sea as a shelter and a place to eat.

Ras Mohammed Park is home to the famous "Lake of Desires" or Magic Bay. It is so salty that it is often compared to the waters in the Dead Sea (Israel). The lake has healing properties and has a beneficial effect on the skin and the entire human body. There is a legend, believing in which it is necessary to plunge into these salty waters with your head - to fulfill any desires.

The land part of the Ras Mohammed Nature Reserve is famous for the cracks that formed during the earthquake. And also the fact that unique trees called Mangroves grow here, which are known for their properties – to make salt water fresh. The location of the park is very favorable. The temperature regime allows you to see tourists here all year round. Thanks to the warm current of the Red Sea, the diversity of the natural world and the animal world is simply impressive. Exhibits of the aquatic territory of the reserve include beautiful butterfly fish, napoleon fish, seahorses, rainbow variolls, and predators, which are represented by moray eels, scorpios, and coral stingrays. There are thousands of fish species in total. The terrestrial part of the park is inhabited by birds, which include white stork, herons, fishing falcons and others. There are also reptiles, gazelles, and foxes.

Tourism is very developed in this area. For scuba divers, this place is a godsend. Here, in the depths, you can heartily enjoy the diversity of the territory that is covered with water. There is also an opportunity to participate in a historical underwater tour to the sunken British cargo ship in 1941. It was first discovered in 1956 by Commander Cousteau. You can also soak up the sun on the beach, which belongs to the top ten of the best on the entire Red Coast.

To fully enjoy the unique nature of Egypt, to see all the delights of the wild for profit, you just need to come to the pristine Ras Mohammed Park. And in order for the tour to be memorable and warm your soul with good memories, it is necessary to remember about the safety rules in this nature, where the hand of humanity has not touched.
