Konopiste Castle

The horse is rightfully considered the most beautiful castle in the Czech Republic. It is located 50 km from Prague near the city of Benesov, which combines two styles – gothic and baroque. Around the castle is a park in which various sculptures and fountains are located, with an area of about 230 hectares. Nowadays, it has a very attractive look, thanks to its fabulous atmosphere and historical significance, many tourists visit it.

Konopiste Castle

This castle was built in the 13th century in the Gothic style. Initially, Konopiste was built as a security object with 7 cylinder towers, 4 gates and a large suspension bridge. Addition to everything was moat and earthen ramparts.

In the 15th century, the castle was reconstructed, then it was given a view with elements of baroque.

Throughout all the time, he repeatedly changed his masters, but the most famous of them was Franz Ferdinand d'Este. He radically rebuilt the castle to his liking, here they made water supply, sewage, electricity, an electric elevator. Since the duke was a hunter, many of the walls were decorated with his trophies - deer horns, heads of animals and their stuffed animals. Here is a large collection of weapons.

Nowadays, Konopiste Castle has remained almost unchanged. He is famous for his extraordinary luxury of the interior. Samples of furniture, porcelain, paintings, chandeliers are the values of the cultural significance of the Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance. For tourists, the rooms of the castle are open: you can visit reception rooms, bedrooms, a study, a library, a hunting corridor, a chapel. In « Pink Room », named after its pink ceiling, you can admire the chandelier of Bohemian crystal and furniture in the Rococo style. In the Great Dining Hall there is a ceiling of fresco, and the addition to it is a chandelier weighing 170 kg. The library has more than 3,000 rare books in Latin, German and Italian. The decoration of the library is a portrait of the spouse. 15 rooms of Konopiste Castle are provided to inspect the personal life of Franz Ferdinand, where he lived with his wife and three children.

In addition to inner beauty, the territory of the adjacent park, built in the English style with beautiful rose greenhouses, terraces and marble statues, is impressive. Thousands of different types of roses delight the eye throughout the summer and half of autumn. Important peacocks pass nearby.
