Keukenhof
Keukenhof is a royal flower park in the Netherlands, also sometimes called the Garden of Europe. A garden is being set in a city called Liss. The park is famous for the fact that almost 5 million tulips of more than a hundred varieties were planted on 32 hectares.
Kyokenhof Park has a rich history. Previously, in these places there were hunting grounds of Bayernov counties, here there were many healing and not only herbs used as seasonings for food in the count's kitchen. Hence the name Kökenhof Park, translated as "kitchen garden". About two centuries ago, the famous landscape architect Jan David Zoher, who had previously built the Vondel Park in Amsterdam, was invited to the castle. Ian designed the basis for the park, in which in 1949 the burgomaster Lissé and ten more sellers of tulip bulbs decided to organize an open-air flower exhibition. They liked the exhibition so much that they began to hold it every year at the Kökenhof estate.
In the three greenhouses of the Kökenhof garden, you can find various combinations of flowers with tulips. In one, tulips are planted with daffodils and bushes of lilacs, in the other with beautiful scarlet roses, in the third tulips are combined with stunning in beauty orchids. Along the entire park are lined paths with a total length of 15 km. At park alleys you can see sculptures made by famous sculptors. Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands is the patron of this park, and for her there is also her own pavilion with flowers, open annually to all visitors.
By territory Kökenhof Park you can sail on a boat with an electric motor, such an engine does not harm nature and does not create much noise. It’s easy to get lost in Kökenhof, so you need to use pointers and take a booklet at the entrance. In the booklet you can find reference information, a park plan with a description and advice of gardeners.
Kökenhof is open to visitors only from about March 20 to the end of May. And at the end of April, they hold the Bloemencorso Bollenstreek flower parade". Its huge flower fields attract millions of tourists, almost 50 million visitors have been here for the entire time of organizing flower exhibitions.
