Vondela Park
Vondela Park is located in Amsterdam, which is the capital of the Netherlands. The total area of the park is 47 hectares. The date of its opening is 1865. At that time it was known as Nieuwe Park, but after a while it was renamed Vondelpark, in the name of the famous playwright of that time Joost van den Vondel.
Nowadays, this wonderful city park is a real attraction of all the Netherlands. The landscape of the park is quite diverse, because it is filled with the widest ponds, small streams, green lawns, as well as various paths and bike paths. The local nature is characterized by the simplest beauty, and the guests of the park feel free and carefree.
Approximately 5,000 different types of trees grow on the territory of Vondela Park, which are mainly represented by oak, ash, maple, alder, and cypress. The magnificent forests of the park are also filled with shrubs of currants, dogwood, blackberries, as well as other species that attract a wide variety of birds.
Vondela Park looks great at any time of the year. In spring, the first flowers bloom here, including snowdrop, winter monkshood and various herbs. In summer, the local area is covered with fragrant roses. Walking along the paths of the park, you can meet newts, frogs, and hedgehogs.
The purpose of creating a Vondel in the middle of a bustling city is to protect park guests from the hustle and bustle of the city. Here, right in the middle of a big city, people are given a wonderful opportunity to relax, being alone with nature. There is no fuss or noise in the park, but only the singing of birds, the murmur of streams, and all this, just a few minutes walk from the bustle of the city.
Back in the 80s, a theater was opened on the territory of Vondela Park, where visitors, completely free of charge, can enjoy theatrical performances simply in the open air.
There is also a cinema museum in the park, where you can have a wonderful time enjoying world cinema.
The entire Vondela Park is unobtrusively filled with various sculptures and fountains. There are playgrounds and cafes here. Roller skates and bicycles can be rented for outdoor enthusiasts. Usually, guests of the park stay in hotels that are adjacent to this territory. Close to 10 million people visit Vandela Park in the Netherlands every year.
