Kuskovo

Kuskovo is one of the most luxurious noble estates of imperial Russia, formerly owned by the Counts of Sheremetyevo, but since the arrival of Soviet power it has become a museum.

Kuskovo

The estate is located in Moscow in the Veshnyaki district and its buildings are a striking example of neoclassical architecture. The estate includes: a palace built in the 18th century, a church, a ceramics museum, a French regular sculpture park, and an English park. The first ones, mentioning Kuskovo, date back to the 16th century, when it was a small piece of land, and all the other lands in the district belonged to Chancellor Cherkassky A.M. Count Boris Petrovich Sheremetev called his land "piece", hence the name of the estate. After the marriage of Sheremetev's son and Cherkassky's daughter, all the lands around passed to the Sheremetevs.

The history of Kuskovo Manor

In the 1770s, Peter Sheremetev created a large estate with ponds, a palace, entertainment pavilions, and a huge park. The total area of the estate is 230 hectares. The construction was led by the fortress architects Alexei Mironov and Fyodor Argunov. The main thing in the entire architectural and artistic ensemble was the palace, built to receive a large number of guests. On particularly significant dates, Kuskovo hosted up to 30,000 guests. The palace was built of wood in the best traditions of Russian architecture, on the ground floor there was a front door, and on the second floor there were cellars and servants' quarters. The interior of the 18th century and paintings by Russian and European artists have been preserved in the palace. The entrances to the palace are decorated with 3 porticos with columns, richly decorated with wood carvings. There is a staircase and a ramp leading to the main entrance so that carriages can drive up to the doors of the palace.

Kuskovo

If the owner of the Kuskovo estate wanted to retire with friends, they went to the second floor of the Hermitage Pavilion, which could only be reached by a mechanical elevator. On the ground floor, servants were setting the table and lifting it up using a lift. On the shore of the pond you can see a "Dutch house", and the buildings and garden around it were supposed to create the illusion of a street by a water channel. By the way, the filming of the movie "Hello, I'm your aunt!" took place in this house. The filming of the film "Shirley-Myrli" and the TV series "Secrets of Palace coups", "Vivat, midshipmen!", "Institute of Noble Maidens" also took place on the territory of the estate.
