Osaka Castle

The castle in Osaka was built by the commander Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1585-1598, and the castle of Azuti was taken as the basis. For the builders of the castle, the task was to build an impregnable fortress, the greatness of which corresponded to the status of Toyotomi. The castle was built on rocky platforms with an elevation of 20 meters. The castle is surrounded by ditches 90 meters wide and 12 km long. During the construction, 20-30 thousand people were involved at a time.
In 1614, the power of the fortress was tested in practice at the time of the war by the shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu and Hideyori. The 200 thousandth army of Tokugawa was never able to take possession of the castle, then he poured the mouth of the castle, performing a significant role in defense. The following year, Hideyori tried to dig out the outer moat, learning about this Tokugawa was furious and again sent his soldiers, but this time they managed to take a castle in Osaka. Hideyori and his mother committed suicide.
In 1620, Tokugawa restored and increased the territory of the castle. 1665 lightning hit the main tower, and the fire caused by it caused enormous destruction. Soon the castle was restored, fire 1860 again damaged the castle. By the 20th century, only ruins remained from the castle, and what was preserved was adapted to the barracks. The main tower was restored only in 1931, but already during World War II many structures were damaged during the raid of American bombers. In 1997, the castle was re-reestablished and opened for all comers. A stadium is located near the garden of Osaka Castle, to which world stars often perform.
