Burano
Burano is one of the main islands of the Venetian Lagoon, along with the island of Murano and Torcello. Since it is an island, it can be reached by boat or boat. Burano is famous all over the world for its bright colors, every house on this island is painted in bright colors. Centuries ago, when fishing was the main activity on the island, fishermen needed to be able to return home from the lagoon even in fog, so they decided to paint their houses with bright colors so they could see them from afar.

Since Burano is an island, seafood is the specialty of this region. Restaurants throughout Burano serve freshly caught fish from the surrounding lagoon and the Adriatic Sea, as well as local delicacies including cod cooked in oil or cuttlefish cooked in its ink.
Famous craft
Nowadays, a colored house is no longer a necessity, it is a tradition that residents do not want to lose. Even if Burano is a small island, there is something to see here besides the colorful houses. This tiny island is also known for the craftsmanship and talent of its artisans, whose works of art became famous throughout Europe in the 16th century. For a long time, men have been fishing, and women have been weaving fishing nets for them. Over time, they began to weave lace to decorate household items and not only. Therefore, it is no coincidence that the Lace Museum is located here, and not in the historical center of Venice.
A special bell tower
Another thing that Burano is famous for is the sloping bell tower, which was built in the 17th century and is located next to the church of San Martino. This Roman Catholic church was built in the 16th century, its height is 53 meters. The best place to admire the bell tower of Burano is the marble bridge of Terranova. It's amazing how much it's actually tilted. It seems like she's going to fall at any moment, but she's in perfect balance.
Mazzorbo Island
You can cross the wooden bridge from Burano to the island of Mazzorbo. There is the walled vineyard of Venissa, surrounded by medieval monastery walls, as well as a Michelin-starred restaurant. There is a bell tower from the 14th century, it is located on the territory next to the church of San Michele Arcangelo from the 11th century. Of the ten original churches on the island of Mazzorbo, only this one has survived.
