Waterfall tours
Anyone who finds themselves in India, especially in the Goa region, should definitely pay attention to this natural wonder. Trips to Dudhsagar are carried out from most beaches in Goa, most often Dudhsagar Falls are visited during a large sightseeing tour, which takes a whole day. Tourists arriving at the attraction have the opportunity to swim in the lake, admire the spectacular freshwater carp and take pictures against the backdrop of the falling stream.
Almost directly above the lake, a railway bridge stretches over the water, built during the time of the British Empire. Interestingly, it is still used for its intended purpose today. Winter is considered the best time to visit Dudhsagar Waterfall. Of course, there is no snow here at this time. However, there is no sweltering heat and torrential tropical rains that will wash out the road and ruin the trip.
The Legend of the Milk Jug
The second name of Dudhsagar Waterfall is the Milky Sea because of the constantly foaming water. There is a romantic legend about the origin of this name. In ancient times, a beautiful goddess used to splash in a mountain lake. After bathing, she liked to drink milk from a precious jug. Once, noticing that an outsider youth was watching her from the forest, she threw all the milk into the water to hide her divine beauty from a mere mortal. They say that since then, white "milky" streams have been flowing along the high cliffs. And the view of the lake, to which the delicate bubbling foam is flying with a bang, is really magnificent.
Flora and fauna in the vicinity of the waterfall
There are virgin deciduous forests with a very rich and diverse wildlife around the Dudhsagar Lake and waterfall. There are Indian elephants, panthers and Bengal tigers, deer, porcupines, mongooses, several species of venomous snakes, including the king cobra, as well as many other animals. However, the chance of encountering any of these animals is quite small: wild animals avoid human trails. The noise produced by tourists and their vehicles can frighten and drive away even large predatory cats. There are about 200 species of birds in the jungle.
The animals that you will definitely get to know at Dudhsagar are monkeys. They eagerly beg for treats from tourists, who are happy to treat them to food, although it is forbidden to feed animals. Knowledgeable people say that you need to stay away from them. The bravest can ride elephants.
