Miniatur Wunderland

Among all the sights of Hamburg, the Miniature Wonderland occupies one of the main places. It represents the largest railway model. Toy cars drive through the streets, accidents happen on high-speed highways, trains rush through tunnels, arrive at train stations, planes take off and land, liners float. Since the duration of the day is 15 minutes, after which night falls, dynamic lighting is used in the room, which changes color to simulate the change of time of day.

This whole interior is enlivened by more than two hundred thousand people who show all kinds of stories from real and fictional life – these are all kinds of holidays, concerts, rallies, weddings, funerals, fire extinguishing and much more. There is a mock-up with snow, with real water.

There are more than a hundred buttons throughout the exhibition, which can be used to set a particular scene in motion. All these processes are monitored using fifty computers, which are managed by a technical service. Sometimes, if something happens to an airplane or a car, an employee personally "saves" the situation.

In order for all the ideas to come true, it took tons of plaster, steel and wood. Today, about a thousand models of trains with carriages, hundreds of lanterns, trees, and animals are used here. After examining the entire layout in detail, you can feel yourself in the role of Gulliver among the animated midgets. The interest in this amazing museum is the same among both adults and children, so most often families come here. The miniature wonderland is located in the area of the port warehouses, which allows it to be visited by millions of visitors per year.

During the tour, visitors can freely take pictures and press all kinds of buttons, it is forbidden only to touch the figures with their hands. This model is admired, primarily because of the skillful combination of many small details into a single whole.
