Whitsunday Islands
The Whitsunday Islands are a Pacific archipelago in the middle of the Coral Sea that belongs to Australia. Its components include 74 islands that are adjacent to the world–famous Great Barrier Reef. This territory, with its white sands and magnificent palm trees, resembles a corner of an earthly paradise. The huge archipelago, which originated about a million years ago, was named by Captain Cook, who cruised nearby on that beautiful day, after which he was named. The first inhabitants of these lands are the Ngaro, who are remembered in literature as the very first people of Australia.
These wonderful islands The Whitsundays are very different from each other. Some of them are just narrow strips of sand on which only one palm tree is visible, but others are represented by a huge territory where luxury resorts and even the local airport (Hamilton Island) are located. On one of the large Whitsunday islands, there is a popular beach among vacationers, which adorns the photos of almost all local tourists. It is a seven-kilometer deserted strip with the purest sand. On the island called Daydream, there is an unusual aquarium that is located directly under the open sky. Here, visitors are allowed not only to see beautiful fish species, but also to feed.
The most important sunny beach of the Whitsunday is Qualia, which is located on the pretty island of Dent Island. This is a unique island in Australia, where, in addition to its natural resources, tourists are also attracted by an exciting game of heli golf (playing golf by helicopter). Every year, the yachts of the rich participants of the Hamilton Island Week Race regatta are grouped on this territory.
The northernmost island in the archipelago is Heyman, which is famous for its five-star resort, which is robbed as a vacation by many vacationers.
There are also islands (Hook and South Mall), which are less crowded, but there are incomparable national parks with impressive natural landscapes on the local territory. There are hiking trails and viewing platforms for park visitors.
The Whitsunday Islands are a romantic place that often witnesses declarations of love. Many services are provided for tourists of these islands. Here you can take a catamaran ride between the islands or fly over them by helicopter, which are available for rent. Diving enthusiasts should take all the cards in their hands, as the underwater world simply delights. There is also an opportunity to spend the night on the reef to see how it comes to life at night. If you want to visit the Whitsunday Islands, you need to cover the distance between Proserpine and Hamilton Island by plane, from where you can get to any of the islands by boat.
