Universal Studio Park is a world-renowned resort park in Florida dedicated to the film, television, and entertainment industries. Attractions are open in this place, and shows inspired by popular movies and music are held.
History
Initially, the facility was designed not only as a theme park, but also as an operating production studio in order to interest visitors and become a competitor to Walt Disney World. Plans for the construction were announced in 1986. This was the second attempt to launch Universal Studio Park, the first time it failed to open due to financial problems.
Construction work began in 1987. In 1990, director Steven Spielberg opened this landmark. He was a consultant in the creation of several attractions in the park, which allowed them to be made more realistic. 5 years after the successful launch, construction began on the second part of the Universal Studio Park, which was opened in 1999.
Description
The Universal Studio Park includes Universal Studios Florida, Universal's Islands of Adventure, a water park, hotels and a shopping and entertainment area. The park consists of 6 themed areas:
- The Central Production Site has attractions based on the story of Transformers, the adventures of Shrek and Minions. There are also themed restaurants where you can feel like the heroes of famous paintings.
- New York attracts the attention of fans of adventure films, where excavations are carried out. The ""Return of the Mummy"" attraction, operating under the "Mummy" franchise, is located in this area. The "Blues Brothers Show", launched in 1991, is one of their first attractions. At the street show, visitors can listen to hits from Soul Man and Sweet Home Chicago. You can also ride a roller coaster that accelerates up to 70 kilometers per hour.
- There is an attraction based on the "Fast and Furious" franchise starring Vin Diesel in San Francisco. Guests can go to the garage and look at the cars from the movie, ride along the same tracks that the main characters drove. There is also an attraction offering an extreme subway ride, during which you can feel an earthquake by 8 points. Until 2012, it was possible to go on a water ride "Jaws", but this attraction was replaced by the Magical World of Harry Potter. Here you can take a flight on a Hippogriff, which is a lightweight model of a roller coaster, see a competition with a dragon based on a 3 wizards tournament, and the "Hogwarts Express" train travels along a 676-meter railway line, boarding which takes place on the same platform 9 3⁄4. In addition, you can ride a slide that runs through the entire theme area.
- The attraction based on the movie "Men in Black" is popular at the World's Fair. Guests have the opportunity to visit the secret headquarters and meet aliens. Visitors are also lining up to ride the "Simpsons"-styled roller coaster. The ride lasts 5 minutes, and all the characters along the way are voiced by the same actors as in the original.
- Woody Woodpecker's Children's Zone is designed for children, and there is a performance based on the TV show "Barney and his Friends." There is also a playground in this place where you can see Barney and other characters. You can ride the first roller coaster and visit Woody the woodpecker factory in Universal Studio Park, hear his unique laugh.
- In Hollywood, visitors are told and shown how special effects are created in horror films. The show with stereoscopic effects and robots, which is called the sequel to "Terminator", looks spectacular. In the stores you can buy products with the theme of a fantastic action movie and other cult films.
What else can I see
Universal Adventure Islands is in demand for a cruise leading to the limited Jurassic Period zone from the Steven Spielberg film, where giant dangerous creatures who like to hunt live. To escape from them, visitors must ride a roller coaster. Children can play on the "Jurassic Camp" playground.
Spider-Man, Hulk, Captain America, Wolverine can be found on the territory of the Island of Marvel superheroes. The characters come to life not only on the screens, but also in the theme park. Opened in 2016, Skull Island features an attraction dedicated to the return of King Kong. The cartoon-themed Toon Lagoon area is popular with families with children. No less in demand is the Lost Atlantis, dedicated to ancient myths and legends, which is divided into an Arab market and a lost city.
How to get
Multi-level parking is available to visitors, so they often come here in their own or rented car. Each zone has a name, and this allows you to quickly find your transport. You can also take buses to the Universal Studio Park. 37, 38, 40, 21, 303. The nearest metro station is Universal/Studio City Station (red line).
