Trancoso is a popular Portuguese resort, and in society it is compared to a mecca for European tourists. Trancoso used to be a tiny fishing village under the control of Porto Seguro. Currently, it is a small resort town, part of the administrative central district. Tourists from different countries come here every year for holidays.

A distinctive feature of this resort is the snow-white coast, paved with silky sand, and an abundance of natural pools made of coral reefs. Combined with the modest decoration of the city, this gives Trancoso a special atmosphere of peace and comfort, far from the realities of the modern world. Here, vacationers can fully forget about current problems and noisy megacities.
At the same time, it is important to understand that the city is not considered a remote place - Trankoso is located only 26 kilometers north of the central administrative district. The resort has its own airport located near the village, from where you can easily reach the departure point of international airlines in Porto Seguro.
First impressions
Trancoso is replete with beautiful exterior views from the cliff of the Church of St. John the Baptist, which is located directly above the sea. From here you can see the entire coast stretching north and south. In addition, if you look towards the city, the elevation allows you to explore its surroundings and the central square in detail.
The streets are decorated with clay buildings painted in soft shades of yellow, blue and turquoise. Various boutiques and catering establishments complement the picture, neatly integrated into the local architecture. In the evening, the atmosphere of Trancoso changes noticeably - dozens of lanterns are lit and musicians with drums and guitars appear on the streets. People dance to rousing music, luring visitors with their open-air entourage.
A bit of history
Trankoso was founded in 1157 as a small settlement for fishermen. It remained that way until 1500, when the European traveler Pedro Alvarish Cabral arrived. Through the efforts of his research expedition, Trancoso began to attract seafarers and researchers from Europe who wanted to visit the lands of Portugal and Brazil. Despite its status as a tourist resort, Trankoso has not changed its history to this day, retaining the fishing industry. Perhaps this is what gives the place such a peaceful atmosphere of identity and tranquility.
