Yosemite National Park

Yosemite is a national park in the United States, spread over an area of 3081 km2. The park is known for its terrain: magnificent granite mountains, rivers with clear water, the highest waterfalls, forests of redwoods and rich wildlife. Due to this, over 3 million tourists visit the park annually, but of the entire vast territory of the park, only Yosemite Valley is usually visited.

Yosemite National Park

The area was formed about 10 million years ago, when the granite mountains of the Sierra Nevada rose and tilted so that the western slopes became more gentle, and the eastern edges are steep. As a result, deep canyons were formed. During the Ice Age, there were glaciers more than a kilometer thick, and when they slid down, they formed the Drogovaya valley, which attracts many tourists nowadays.

Yosemite Valley accounts for only 1% of the park's area, but it actually attracts all tourists. Many climbers have chosen Mount El Capitan, which is 2,307 meters high, due to the fact that there are routes of any level of difficulty on the mountain. In Yosemite Valley, you can observe a unique phenomenon when the rays of the Sun are reflected from the streams of water, creating the effect of a "fiery waterfall". In the park you can see such beautiful places as Dana Meadow and Tuolomsky, Clark Mountain range and Pulpit. The beauty of the mountains can be seen by taking the Pacific Crest and Sierra Crest routes along the crests of the cliffs. The highest point in the mountains is the Liell Rock, which is 3997 meters high.

Due to the sheer cliffs in Yosemite Park, there are many waterfalls that show all their beauty in spring and summer, when glaciers melt strongly. There is also the highest waterfall in North America, Yosemite Waterfall, which is 739 meters high. Ribbon and Bridal Veil waterfalls are no less beautiful.

The western border of the park is dominated by forests of needles, consisting of yellow pine, Lambert pines, fir, calocedrus, pseudotsug, and in some places forests of velvety oak. Yosemite has a fairly mild climate, which is why there is a wide variety of flora and fauna. It is easy to meet bears, lynxes, black-tailed deer, foxes from animals.
