Mini Italy
Mini Italy is a miniature park in Rimini, realized thanks to Ivo Rambaldi, director of the water supply plant. Ivo often traveled abroad, and on one of these trips he visited the miniature park and dreamed of creating a much better one.
Ivo Rambaldi spent a long time and persistently collecting information about the sights of Italy, selected the material for the figures together with his assistants, and all these efforts resulted in the opening of the park on July 4, 1970. At that time, there were 50 miniatures placed on an area of 20,000 m2. But as the years passed, the park's exposition grew, and today we can see 273 building models in the Mini Italia park, made in a ratio of 1:25 and 1:50. The park's area has also increased to 85,000 m2, where you can find more than 10,000 plants and 5,000 miniature trees that successfully fit into the landscape. There are 17 mini-trains running through the park, and 2,500 m3 of water is needed to fill reservoirs.
Among the miniatures in the park, anyone can recognize the Colosseum, significant objects of Venice, the Trevi Fountain, St. Mark's Cathedral, Mount Etna, the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Water slides, go-karts, game rooms, an open-air puppet theater, and small monorail trains run through the park. Climbing the panoramic tower, you can see the park from a height of 10 meters.
Mini Italy has a driving school for children from 6 to 12 years old. Here they will be taught the basic rules of the road, and a strict virtual instructor will monitor them and, if necessary, tell them how to act in this situation. After completing the training, special rights are granted with a photo and points scored. Car lovers can visit the Ferrari-themed area and see the Filippo Di exhibition, which tells about the racing driver Michael Schumacher. On the big screen, you can watch sports broadcasts from Formula 1 races and motorcycle races.
Mini Italia Park is also worth a visit to the Luna Park, which has science-themed attractions. The wonderful scientist Vaughn Kaos and his assistant Otto will talk about the laws of physics. Those who don't have enough of this can be sent to capture the castle! On the castle siege attraction, you can participate from both the attacking side and the defending side, using water cannons instead of weapons. And the attraction itself is dedicated to the battles that took place between the dukes of Montefeltro and Malatesta.
