Tirta Gangga
On the island of Bali, near the town of Karangasema, there is an amazing water palace, Tirta Ganga. The name of the palace literally translates as "sacred waters of the Ganges River" and it attracts tourists with a magnificent garden surrounded by fountains and ponds.
The palace complex was built by order of Raja Karangasema in 1946, who personally participated in the construction of the palace along with ordinary workers. The water palace was built on the site of a spring gushing from under the sacred banyan tree and supplying water to the city of Amlapura. In 1963, the Agung volcano destroyed the palace, but it was soon restored to its former form. Today, the Tirtha Ganga delights tourists with eleven multi-level fountains, carved bridges, ponds with decorative carp, and beautiful statues decorating the labyrinths of the pools. This is a great place to relax and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of old Bali. You can swim in the pool for an additional fee, and foreigners will have to pay 35,000 rupees for the opportunity to visit the palace, while the entrance costs only 10,000 for Indonesians. If desired, you can hire an experienced guide, but it will cost 70,000-100,000 rupees per hour. Newlyweds can order a wedding photo shoot for 750,000 rupees.
The Bali Water Palace is surrounded by rice terraces, which are very popular with photographers. Many photos of rice terraces in Bali were taken here. There is also a spring at the foot of the hill, next to which the locals built a temple. Rituals related to birth and purification are performed in the temple. Many people consider the water from the spring to be healing and use it in ceremonies. In Hindu mythology, the Ganges is a sacred river that descended from heaven, capable of washing away human sins.
Souvenir shops are located at the entrance to the palace, and inside the palace there is a restaurant where you can taste local cuisine while looking at the pools and gardens.
