Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal – is a monument mausoleum, which is a symbol of India. The complex is located on the district of Angara, surrounded on three sides by walls of red sandstone. The side located near the river remains open. This wonderful architectural creation 74 meters high with 5 marble domes, surrounded by a magnificent park with fountains and lakes, occupies about 18 hectares.

The whole complex is surrounded by a garden divided into four parts, which symbolizes paradise on earth. Translated from Persian, Taj Mahal means « the crown of all palaces » and is rightfully considered a real masterpiece of architecture.

Taj Mahal was erected in memory of the great love of the Muslim king for his beautiful wife. They loved each other very much, but after the birth of the fourteenth child, the beloved was gone. The ruler killed by grief suffered a lot, and later on the grave of his wife they offered a mausoleum, which became a symbol of the beauty of the deceased. This architectural monument is associated with a symbol of untied love.

The construction of the mausoleum lasted twenty years and ended in 1653, more than 20,000 people took part in it, including the most talented architects, artists, and craftsmen. For construction, precious stones and materials were used: turquoise, jade, sapphire – they were taken from the entire vicinity of Asia. The walls of the mausoleum are built of white marble, which is painted in different shades when playing light. All this grace of the interior requires careful study and inspection.

The facade of the mausoleum is absolutely symmetrical, in it the height is equal to the width – 75 meters, which serves as a grandeur, but at the same time the airiness of the building.

The complex consists of a mosque and a guest house. At the corners of the mausoleum 4 minarets were erected. In front of the complex is a swimming pool that reflects the beauty of the mausoleum.

Inside the Taj Mahal mausoleum there are many rooms decorated with mosaics. In the very center are two false tombs of the Shah and his wife. On tombstones there are always flowers, as the memory of eternal love. Genuine tombs are buried under the lower, directly under the burial chamber. The whole complex as a decor is decorated with inscriptions from the Koran.

Outside the walls of the main mausoleum there are additional burials. The rest of the ruler’s wives rest in them.

Today, the Taj Mahal includes a list of seven majestic and architectural monuments and wonders of the world. This monument reflects the wealth of the era in the history of India, having no more analogues of such greatness.
