Củ Chi tunnels
The Kuti tunnels are a rather unusual place that is very often visited by tourists. This landmark was built in the middle of the 20th century, when there was a war in Vietnam. At that time, this landmark of the city served as a powerful defensive complex. Nowadays, it is a time of peace in this country, and the tunnels serve as a popular tourist attraction.
This architectural structure is simply amazing in scale. Here curious travelers can get acquainted with many elements of household appliances, as well as military accessories of soldiers.
From the very first days of the tunnel's existence, it measured about 150 km, but in the 60s its length increased by another 50 km. Here, in the dungeon, there were three levels, where, in addition to equipped rooms for weapons and food supplies, military recreation rooms were located, a hospital, headquarters and kitchens were equipped.
The Kuti tunnels are not just a well–equipped underground town, it is the place where more than one hundred people escaped at one time.
It is simply amazing that during the Vietnam War, the effective headquarters of the opponents were located on the surface directly above the tunnel, but they did not even know about the underground life of the Vietnamese soldiers. After some time, the underground military city was declassified, as a result of which part of the passages was destroyed. Nevertheless, this huge tunnel made a big contribution to the victory.
Nowadays, tourists can only see 50 meters of the underground city, but despite this, the tunnel is a huge success among travelers in Vietnam.
What attracts so many tourists to this underground structure, which is located in the middle of a wooded area. And literally everything is interesting here, from the difficult entrance to the dungeon, which allows only dexterous and subtle people to pass through, to completely unusual underground passages. There are passages in the Kuti Tunnel where tourists have to crawl through, and there are whole spacious rooms that previously housed quite a large number of soldiers and weapons. Most of the military exhibits are located on the ground side. Here you can see various traps that are designed simply from improvised materials, and there are quite a few weapons with which you can shoot at a local shooting range.
The Kuti Tunnels are a very fascinating place to visit when traveling to Vietnam.
