Everglades National Park
Everglades - US National Park, located in the Everglades Swamp Area on an area of 6105 km2. The area was declared a national park back in 1934, but in fact it became only in 1947. In 1976, the UNESCO International Biosphere Reserve appeared here. Today, almost 90% of the area is a "territory of wildlife".
The park is surrounded by the agricultural territories of Miami, Florida City, Homestead and the Gulf of Mexico from the east, the Big Kipress Nature Reserve from the north, as well as the Strait of Florida from the south. In the southeast of the park you can find the Ernest F. Information Center. Koya, six kilometers west is another center - Royal Palm.
Everglades National Park is also called the "grass river" because there are tropical swamps around. Over two thousand species of plants grow in swamps. There are 25 species of orchids growing, ecosystems such as freshwater swamps, mangroves, pine rarles, prairie, cypress forests, subtropical hammok are also found.
Of those found in Everglades, smooth-billed cuckoo, short-tailed cannuts, Caribbean flamingos, shepherd cranes, herons, ibis, storks are often found. Of the predatory feathered, it is worth noting the Korshuns, red-shouldered canyaks, and a crowd. In the coast of the Gulf of Florida, you can often come across fists, pelicans, and pens. No less rich and animal world of the park, which is represented by river otters, Mississippi alligators, acute crocodiles, deer, as well as cougars. Over 36 representatives of the animal world are on the verge of extinction. This place is unique in that alligators and crocodiles live peacefully here.
Everglades Park is very popular among tourists, in a year it is visited by about a million people. For the convenience of guests, trails were equipped in the park, you can also look around the park from the water by renting a canoe. The best time to relax is December-March, since at this time it is not very hot, and there are few mosquitoes.
