Grottoes of Rosh HaNikra
The Rosh HaNikra Grottoes are considered one of the most beautiful places on the planet, according to tourists. The complex is located on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. This is a combination of clear, clean water and snow-white rocks. The tremors split the limestone ridge from the inside. The water washed out the crevices, and caves 200 meters deep appeared.
Basic information
They began to dig a tunnel in the mountain in 1941. A year later, a railway was built nearby, but in 1948 the tunnel was blown up by a detachment of the Haganah. After the war, people began to come to this place on vacation. To make it easier for tourists to access Rosh HaNikra, in 1868 an observation gallery approximately 400 meters deep was cut into the rock. All safety requirements were met.
Over time, a cable car was built to the Rosh HaNikra grottoes to facilitate the descent from the mountain to the tunnels. The cable car has 2 carriages, each of which can accommodate up to 15 people. Now Rosh HaNikra is a nature reserve protected by the state. This place is perfect for family excursions.
