Taj Mahal

The whole complex is surrounded by a garden divided into four parts, which symbolizes paradise on earth. Translated from Persian, the Taj Mahal means "crown of all palaces" and is rightfully considered a true masterpiece of architecture.

The Taj Mahal was built in memory of the Muslim king's great love for his beautiful wife. They loved each other very much, but after the birth of their fourteenth child, their beloved died. The grief-stricken ruler suffered greatly, and later a mausoleum was erected on his wife's grave, which became a symbol of the beauty of the deceased. This architectural monument is associated with the symbol of undying love.

Taj Mahal

The construction of the mausoleum lasted for twenty years and ended in 1653. More than 20,000 people took part in it, including the most talented architects, artists, and craftsmen. Precious stones and materials were used for the construction: turquoise, jade, sapphire – they were imported from all over Asia. The walls of the mausoleum are made of white marble, which is colored in different shades when the light plays. All this elegance of the interior requires careful study and inspection.

The facade of the mausoleum is absolutely symmetrical, with a height equal to a width of 75 meters, which serves as the grandeur, but at the same time, the airiness of the building.

The complex consists of a mosque and a guest house. 4 minarets have been erected at the corners of the mausoleum. There is a swimming pool in front of the complex, which reflects the beauty of the mausoleum.

Inside the Taj Mahal mausoleum there are many rooms decorated with mosaics. In the very center there are two false tombs of the Shah and his wife. There are always flowers on tombstones, as a memory of eternal love. The original tombs are buried underneath, directly under the burial chamber. The whole complex is decorated with inscriptions from the Koran.

Additional burials are located outside the walls of the main mausoleum. The rest of the ruler's wives are buried in them.

Today, the Taj Mahal is included in the list of seven majestic and architectural monuments and wonders of the world. This monument reflects the richness of an era in the history of India, having no other analogues of such greatness.
