The Snow Mountain of the Jade Dragon

The Snow Mountain of the Jade Dragon ( Yulunsueshan ) is a national park in Yunnan province in southwestern China. The highest height in the massif is 5596 meters. The mountains are covered with dense snow blanket, which can break at any moment. In the Jade Dragon pond in the city of Lijiang you can see the reflection of the mountain, from there you can see amazing views of the mountain. On the back of the mountain there are very steep slopes on which snow and ice do not linger.

The mountain can be reached by cable car, which raises travelers to a height of 4680 meters. Then you need to climb the mountain yourself. On the mountain you can find merchants selling sweets and small oxygen cans. Without oxygen cylinders, unprepared people may feel unwell. From above, stunning views of the rocks, glaciers, faults in the snow open. It is worth considering that there is no overnight stay on the mountains, so curious tourists drive down at 6 pm. With the onset of twilight, the park becomes very cold, so do not tempt fate and stay on the mountain for the night.

There are a total of 13 peaks on Mount Yulunshan, with a total length of 35 km. Local residents confirm that on the mountain you can see all the seasons, which replace each other every 5 kilometers. Due to the large territory, the park has a very rich plant world, among which you can see many shrubs, medicinal plants.

The park has a Jumping Tiger gorge, which, according to legend, was able to jump over the tiger, running away from hunters. The height from the lowest point to the highest is almost 4 km. The great Yangtze River begins its journey right there.
