The Snow Mountain of the Jade Dragon

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (Yulongxueshan) is a national park in Yunnan Province in southwestern China. The highest altitude in the mountain range is 5,596 meters. The mountains are covered with a dense blanket of snow, which can fall off at any moment. In the Jade Dragon Pond in Lijiang City, you can see the reflection of the mountain, and from there you can enjoy stunning views of the mountain. On the reverse side of the mountain there are very steep slopes on which snow and ice do not linger.

The mountain can be reached by a cable car, which lifts travelers to a height of 4680 meters. Then you need to climb the mountain yourself. On mt. Gora, you can find vendors selling sweets and small oxygen canisters. Without oxygen tanks, unprepared people may feel unwell. From the height, there are stunning views of cliffs, glaciers, and faults in the snow. It is worth considering that there is no overnight stay on the mountains, so curious tourists are driven down at 6 p.m. As dusk falls, it gets very cold in the park, so don't tempt fate and stay on the mountain overnight.

Yulongshan Mountain has a total of 13 peaks, with a total length of 35 km. Locals claim that on the mountain you can see all the seasons, which change every 5 kilometers. Due to the large territory, the park has a very rich flora, among which you can see many shrubs and medicinal plants.

There is a Jumping Tiger Gorge in the park, which, according to legend, a tiger was able to jump over while running away from hunters. The height from the lowest point to the highest is almost 4 km. The great Yangtze River immediately begins its journey.
