Bouillon Castle

The Bouillon castle was owned many times by different families and orders - Godfrey the Second, the House of Arden, Otbert of Liège, as well as the La Tour d'Auvergne family. But the fortress gained fame thanks to Duke Godfrey, who founded this building and received money to raise an army and go on a Crusade to liberate Jerusalem. Afterwards, the Bouillon Castle was owned by a large number of bishops, from whom the Bouillon Castle was liberated by the great King Louis the Fourth, in whose honor the famous Trappist church was built on the territory of the castle.
