Kosciuszko National Park

Kosciuszko is the national park, the largest in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The national park is located in the east of the state and borders on Namagdi National Park in Victoria. It is the largest national park in New South Wales and the Australian Alps.

Located on its territory, Kostsyushko Mountain reaches 2228 meters. The park was founded in 1967 and covers an area of 6900 km2. Since 1977, most of the park’s territory has been included in the worldwide network of biosphere reserves. In 1996, Lake Blue Lake, located in the park, was included in the list of wetlands protected by the Ramsar Convention. In 2008, the Kosciuszko National Park, along with other protected areas of the Australian Alps, was included in Australia's National Heritage List.

The largest rivers in the region originate in the national park: Snowy River, Murray and Marrambigi. In addition, glacial lakes such as Blue Lake, Albina and Headley Tarn are located in the park. Blue Lake is one of Australia's four lakes.

Kosciuszko National Park

There are six wildlife zones in the Koscushko Park. Their total area is about 3,000 km2. Rare species grow here, including endemic. Among the rare animals living in the park, a mountain couscous, which was considered extinct until 1966, as well as a bright false toad.

Koscushko National Park is one of Australia's most famous national parks, and is visited by about three million tourists annually. All New South Wales ski resorts are located in the park. Climbing Mount Kosciuszko, without any difficulty. There are two popular routes - from the village of Tredbo and from the village of Pereval Charlotte.

Between Charlotte Pass and Mount Kosciuszko there is an alpine hut - the hut of a sailor built for the vacation of travelers. The hut of the sailor was built after the death of two skiers in 1928. To prevent such tragedies, the Lori family built a mountain stone hut to give shelter to future travelers. In the Cabin of a sailor there are two rooms and a department for storing firewood, a floor – wooden flooring. There is always plenty of dried food, and travelers themselves supply supplies. The route is mainly used by ski fans on rough terrain during the winter months. The route from Trebdo begins with a climb to a height of about 600 meters past the landscape planted with trees, but many use the Krakenback chairlift to the same station to save two hours of steep climb. From there - seven kilometers along the trail lined with iron bars to the top.
