Palacio Barolo

Located in Argentina, Palacio Barolo, located in the city of Buenos Aires, even now surprises with its architecture. It was built back in 1923, and at that time it was considered the tallest building on the entire continent. The building is now considered a National Historical Monument of Argentina. Its construction project was designed by Italian architect Mario Palanti, who created this work of art at the request of Luis Barolo. It is noteworthy that the architect paid attention not only to the project itself, but also to small things such as grilles on elevators, door handles, chandeliers and other elements.

Palacio Barolo

The opening of the Palacio Barolo took place on July 7. It is very interesting that the Argentine building has a twin brother located in Uruguay and called Palacio Salvo. Therefore, it is safe to say that Palacio Barolo is actually distinguished by its originality, because otherwise no one would have been involved in the creation of its twin. Today, almost all the premises of the building are rented out for offices, where employees of 520 companies work.

During the construction, Palanti decided to bring to life a truly original architectural solution, the eclectic style and the Spirit of D. Alighieri's "Divine Comedy" are perfectly felt here. The total height of the Palacio Barolo is 100 m. This is exactly the number of songs that D. Alighieri's work has, and this is not just a number, but a symbolic meaning of perfection. The basement of the building represents "hell", and the territory of floors 1-14 is considered to be "purgatory", while from the 15th the expanses of "paradise" begin.

At the very top of the building there is a lighthouse representing the "9 ranks of Angels". Now the lighthouse operates only once a month, illuminating the sky of Buenos Aires and its light is so bright that it can be seen even in Uruguay.

Luis Barnaul had the intention to bring the ashes of the legendary genius Dante Alighieri to Argentina and place it in the palace, which, according to his idea, was to become a historical mausoleum. The originality of the building can be seen on all floors, where the eclectic style is diluted with the culture of Islam and Gothic, which causes delight even in modern society.

Movement around the Palacio Barolo building can be carried out using nine elevators. On its ground floor you can see a huge hall, the ceiling of which is decorated with paintings. After decades of its existence, the building was destroyed, but the authorities decided to carry out its reconstruction, which took place in 2009, which allowed this architectural masterpiece to be preserved to this day.
