Jacob's Well

The Jacob's Well – is a natural attraction that is located in Texas, USA. The well is an underwater cave, the initial depth of which is at least 10 meters. This Texas note is very popular among tourists, but it carries some danger to those who are about to plunge into its crystalline waters.

The well of Jacob is four meter in diameter, but after a ten-meter recess – branching into some gorges that have narrow passages. At the depth of the cave is covered with a thick layer of natural sludge. The entire length of the cave, including the size of the isthmus, is close to forty meters.

In the past, this marvelous karst source was considered eternal, but recently it has been decreasing in volumes, becoming less and less full-flowing. There was a time when the Well of Jacob had the appearance of a fleeting geyser, whose jet rose ten meters. The water level in the underground layers, due to which it feeds, is gradually decreasing, which leads to the drying of this natural attraction. Since the 20th century, the well of Jacob has actively begun to study scuba divers.

Nowadays, the well of Jacob is dangerous enough to immerse in its waters. Given the sad fact of the deaths of 8 divers, since 1980, at the entrance to the well, they built a special grate from reinforcement, which prevented from dipping into its waters. But the desire, as it turns out, is above all, so fearless divers pushed back the grate and continued this alluring extreme form of entertainment.

Nowadays, tourists pay not little attention to the well of Jacob, and some of them are still immersed in its transparent waters. This natural attraction is a significant natural treasure of a given country.
