Cave of the Crystals
Not so long ago, an amazing cave was discovered in the Chihuahua desert that belongs to Mexico. This find, located at a depth of 300 meters, holds the most enormous crystals that are of natural origin.
A crystal cave was discovered in 2000, although people have known about it since about 1794. Even then, work was actively carried out on the extraction of natural resources, among which silver, zinc and lead. But the mine was closed at the beginning of the 20th century and over time they forgot about it. Only in 2000 was she found by archaeologists who certainly took up her research. The discovered find is simply surprising in the size of the selenite crystals that are there. These natural thunders reach 15 meters in length, and their diameter is about a meter. Such natural giants weigh approximately 50 tons.
Professionals who studied the cave believe that the crystals were formed more than half a million years ago, covered with a layer of water. Their formation occurred at the place where thermal waters escaped, at different temperatures saturated with oxygen. For more than one thousand years, such conditions were optimal for the formation of crystals of enormous magnitude.
Selenite also has a different name, which sounds like « lunar stone ». This is a very beautiful type of gypsum, having the appearance of a white section, which resembles moonlight. This breed was named in the name of the goddess of the Moon, who had the name Selen.
The crystal is endowed with many qualities, among which healing and metaphysical. People who tirelessly admire this miracle of nature gave the Crystal Cave the name « Sistine Chapel of crystals ».
But under the enchanting appearance of the cave also hides the danger that it can pose to people. This is facilitated by high humidity and high temperature, which is at a mark of more than 50 degrees Celsius. It is for these reasons that in the middle of the cave it is simply very harmful to health to be for more than ten minutes without using special equipment.
It is a pity, traveling Mexico, you can not visit the Cave of crystals and see this beauty with your own eyes. Incredibly large crystals of the cave, you can admire from numerous photographs as confirmation that they really exist. And as predicted, having completed its research work, this cave will be flooded with water, since pumping – is an expensive business.
