The name of the island in Latin means copper. Previously, metal was mined in this place. There is also a version that Cyprus got its name from the cypress. These trees have been growing in the country for a long time. In Cyprus, the remains of Neolithic settlements have been preserved. You can visit the ruins of temples of ancient gods. It is believed that this is the birthplace of the goddess Aphrodite. Cyprus is also one of the centers of Orthodoxy. There are more than 500 religious shrines here.
