St. Michael's Hill has long attracted many travelers and is a real attraction of the ancient English town of Glastonbury. Since time immemorial, this territory has been endowed with various legends, which gives it a special mystery. This area is the only hill for many of the next kilometers. The height of the hill is 145 meters, and its slopes are represented in the form of seven tiers, which are of man-made origin.

Scientists have not put forward a single version of the origin of this amazing hill to this day. The question of why, why and by whom the local terraces were built is of interest to many.

The ancient people who inhabited this area earlier named the hill "Avalon Island", for the reason that its three sides were surrounded by a river.

Many existing legends here are dedicated to King Arthur. Some people believe that this is where his ashes rest, as well as those of Queen Guinevere. There is also a myth about the Holy Grail, brought here by Joseph of Arimathea.

At the very top of St. Michael's Hill, there used to be the Church of St. Michael, which was destroyed by an earthquake in 1275. In its place, another church was built, which existed here from 1360 to 1539, when the king issued an order to close the monasteries. Nowadays, on a huge hill in the middle of the plain, one can observe an almost collapsed tower.

Near the hill itself there is a Bowl Well, which is considered sacred. This spring has magical properties, as it does not dry out in the greatest heat. According to legend, it is in it that the Holy Grail is located, after which the well was named.

Nowadays, St. Michael's Hill is also acquiring new legends, as fans of various paranormal phenomena often visit here. This hill was chosen by modern pagans as a place of worship.

But even if you don't believe its magical properties, as well as the various myths that are an integral part of it, you should still just climb to the top of the hill, which will give you a colorful landscape.
