Gethsemane Garden

The Gethsemane Garden – is a biblical landmark that is located in Israel. It was in this area that Jesus Christ walked and brought his disciples here . He prayed here, rested, and was also deceived and arrested. On the lands of the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus spent his dying night before the crucifixion. The exact location of this ancient garden is Ancient Jerusalem, namely the Mount of Olives, near the Kedron stream.

The current garden covers an area of just over 1200 m². Of course, this territory is much smaller than was originally ( that described in the Bible ), but tourists can imagine a real picture of the biblical garden. Here, until our time, olives have been preserved, in the amount of eight trees.

In the Garden of Gethsemane, on the place where Judas severely deceived Christ, was built in the 5th century of the Basilica. Now, there is a church, the construction of which was completed in 1924. This temple is called the Church of Nations, thanks to more than ten countries that provided financial assistance for its construction. This fact is also reminiscent of 12 domes and exactly the same number of emblems that are located inside the building. The holy walls of the church adorn paintings made with mosaics. On them you can observe episodes from the last days of Christ. With the help of blue stained-glass stained-glass windows, the building is always half-dead, which symbolizes the night of Jesus before the crucifixion. This temple is by far the most famous and significant building in the whole city.

There is also a place in the territory of the Garden of Gethsemane that is worth the attention. This place is the Gethsemane Grotto, which is known for the pleas of Christ. The floor of the local grotto is marked with droplets of sweat mixed with the blood of Jesus, that having rolled the stone, pierced it completely.

The modern Gethsemane Garden is neat enough. It has a well-groomed view, which is given by even, paved with stone, paths. Tourists love to take pictures against the background of the legendary olives, from which, despite the guests of the park, they harvest on time.

The Garden of Gethsemane is the territory of the Christian pilgrimage, because this is the place that is directly related to the Passion of Jesus Christ.
